VA MINI REVIEW™ A great alternative to going over your notes!

The VA Mini Review™ is your chance to spend the entire day in a guided review of the topics most heavily tested on the VA Bar Exam. The Mini Review™ will provide a ‘checkup” to ensure you are familiar with the most significant substantive rules for each of the VA Essay subjects. No new material will be distributed.

The VA Mini Review™ is designed and taught by Professor Reid Flinn. Over the past 20 years, Prof. Flinn has taught numerous BARBRI programs, personally tutored hundreds of bar exam applicants, and consulted to multiple law schools. Prof. Flinn currently teaches the VA Essay Advantage™ as well as the VA Mini Review™ . He earned B.A. and J.D. Degrees from Washington & Lee University and is admitted to the Bar in Virginia.

Learn how to write high-scoring essay answers even when you don't remember all the law!

The VA Essay Advantage™ will help you identify the specific rules of law being tested, maximize your recall of elements and exceptions, apply relevant facts, an incorporate precise legal terminology. You will work a series of practice essays, with analysis of the thought process and model answers for each question.

The VA Essay Advantage™ is taught jointly by Professors W. Wade Berryhill and C. Reid Flinn. 

Professor Berryhill has more than 33 years of experience with Richmond Bar Review, a former BARBRI affiliate. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville Law School and practiced law as a partner in Moore, Logan & Berryhill. He joined the University of Richmond faculty after earning a master of laws degree from Columbia University. Professor Berryhill is currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of Richmond.

Professor Flinn has 20 years of experience preparing applicants to pass the Virginia Bar Exam. He designs and teaches the VA Mini Review™ as well as the VA Essay Advantage™. Prof. Flinn. also provides individual bar exam tutoring year-round and teaches popular Bar Prep courses in law schools. He earned B.A. and J.D. degrees from Washington & Lee University and is admitted to the Bar in Virginia

S.E.T.™ (Supplemental Exam Training)

About the Program

• The S.E.T.^TM program offers the opportunity to be paired with an attorney-grader who will review up to six (6) additional essays in a series of one-on-one phone consultations.

• The same attorney-grader will grade and discuss each of the S.E.T. ^TM assignments, providing an extra level of guidance for students. Through one-on-one consultations, attorney-graders set goals and evaluate progress from one essay to the next.

• S.E.T. ^TM provides questions that do NOT appear in any other BARBRI materials.

• Complete enrollment application and select your desired assignments from the list of essays.
• Submit completed application & payment to BARBRI.
• Your materials will be sent to the mailing address provided via UPS.
• Submit your first answer VIA EMAIL (typed or scanned if handwritten) according to the instructions/schedule provided in the materials you will receive.
• Upon receipt of your first submission, BARBRI will pair you with an attorney grader to work with for the remainder of the program.
• Your attorney grader will contact you and return graded answers to you via email.
• You may schedule a 30 minute 1-on-1 telephone consultation to review each answer. 
• You and your attorney grader will set appointments at mutually agreed upon times (generally evenings / weekends).

PRIVATE TUTORING
 
BARBRI’s bar review course provides comprehensive instruction for all parts of each state’s bar exam. However, some students desire more customized guidance, so BARBRI is also pleased to provide private tutoring sessions with an experienced, licensed attorney.
 
BARBRI’s tutoring program can be used by students who are currently enrolled in the BARBRI bar review course, as well as those students who have taken a BARBRI course within the last year. BARBRI will match you with a tutor specifically for the course you are taking or have recently taken.
 
You can receive a complimentary initial consultation, up to 30 minutes, and hourly packages can be purchased beyond this initial session.
 
If you believe you would benefit from a customized approach beyond what is already provided in our traditional bar review program, please complete and submit a “Tutoring Application” from the “Online Forms” section of your state’s page on the BARBRI website.
 
Private Tutoring Package Options**
 

* Available only after initial consultation.
 
** Any time spent by the attorney or tutor in preparation for the appointments (e.g. reviewing graded essays), and
     any email and phone communication with the student, is included when calculating hourly time. Any review of
     past exam questions will count toward the first paid session after the initial consultation.
 
Additional hours between packages can be purchased at the hourly price of the package until the next level is achieved.
