Most jurisdictions require bar candidates to pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) before they may be admitted to practice law.
The MPRE:
Is a standardized, 2 hour and 5 minute exam.
Consists of 60 multiple choice questions designed to test your knowledge and understanding of ethical standards of the legal profession. Only 50 questions are graded; the 10 remaining questions, considered "pre-test" questions, are not identified and are interspersed throughout the exam.
Is offered every March, August and November.
Should be taken before you graduate from law school.

When Do I Take the MPRE?
The vasty majority of states allow students to take the MPRE before graduation from law school. The exam is offered nationwide each March, August and November, and most students take the exam sometime after their second year of law school. A law school course in ethics is not crucial to your success on the MPRE.
