BARBRI SQE Prep for Practice

Developing practice-ready lawyers

What is Prep for Practice?

BARBRI’s Prep for Practice programme aims to provide trainees with the necessary commercial and business skills required of a competent lawyer. The programme will accelerate trainees beyond graduate level to create practice-ready fee earners equipped to tackle the challenge of a high-pressure working environment. Through Prep for Practice, trainees will acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to contribute and add value to their professional transactions.

What's included?

  • A menu of courses from which students can choose.
  • 9 weeks duration in which students will be able to study up to 6 modules comprising legal and skills knowledge. Individual modules can be studied as a part time 3 week course.
  • Delivered predominantly online, the course will adopt an experiential learning model underpinned by BARBRI’s learning methodology and design technology to embed life-long learning.
  • The programme is designed to reflect firms’ key practice areas and business needs and emulate the O Shaped Lawyer competency model.
  • Alongside teaching from experienced practitioner tutors, the course integrates simulated practice-based tasks using client instructions, detailed supporting information and legal documentation. We collaborate with expert practitioners and professional legal education designers to ensure that the transactions and examples used in the course are current and relevant.
  • PfP will include live, half-day interactive workshops covering core legal and skills content. Students will have the benefit of Learning Coach support, and will access course materials through BARBRI’s bespoke Personal Study Plan (PSP).
