Richard Freer Bio

Richard D. Freer is the Dean and Charles Howard Candler Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law. An acclaimed scholar of federal jurisdiction, civil procedure, and complex litigation, Professor Freer is a favorite among students—eleven graduating classes at Emory have named him Most Outstanding Professor. He has authored or co-authored 17 books, including texts in the Aspen Student Treatise Series and both Wright & Miller and Moore’s Federal Practice. His scholarship is frequently cited in federal and state courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a life member of the American Law Institute.
