Mike Kilen has over 30 years of experience in information technology and software engineering and has spent the past 23 years in executive technology leadership roles, 10 of which have been in the legal education field. He has served organizations in a variety of other industries as well, including higher education, banking/finance, manufacturing, software, and transportation.

Mike is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of technology strategies within BARBRI. This involves leading the technical team, aligning technology initiatives with business goals, evaluating new technologies, managing the technology budget, and ensuring the security and efficiency of the organization’s infrastructure. He works closely with other executives to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the market through technological advancements.

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from Iowa State University, and an M.B.A. from the Carlson School of the University of Minnesota.

Outside of work, he is a fitness fanatic — having run over 30 marathons and 20 obstacle course races (Spartan, Savage, Tough Mudder, etc.) and completed his first Ironman triathlon race in September 2023. Mike recently relocated to the Tampa, Florida area with his wife of 34 years after growing up and building his career in Minnesota. His family also includes two grown children and two cats.
