How much does the SQE1 exam cost?
The Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) is split into two stages: SQE1 and SQE2. The first stage of the SQE costs £1,622 (£811 for FLK1 and £811 for FLK2) and is VAT exempt. This is paid directly to the exam provider, Kaplan, upon booking the exam.
Please note that from September 2023, this will rise to £1,798 (i.e. £899 for FLK1 and £899 for FLK2). More information on this is available on the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) website here.
You may also need to factor in costs associated to travel to and from the exam assessment centre. The SQE1 is assessed through PearsonVUE centres globally.
What is included in the BARBRI SQE Prep cost?
The BARBRI SQE Prep costs cover the preparation for the exam only. The books and their shipping internationally, as well as all necessary materials and access are provided and included in the fee.
