Download our SQE2 Prep funding guide for an overview of the support you can secure to help fund your SQE1 Prep studies and answers to the common questions on the costs associated to SQE2.

How much does the SQE2 cost?

The Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) is split into two stages: SQE1 and SQE2. The second stage of the SQE costs £2,766 (VAT exempt). As with the first stage, this is paid directly to the exam provider, Kaplan, upon booking the exam.

From September 2024 the new fee is £2,902. More information on this is available on the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) website here.

You may also need to factor in costs associated to travel to and from the exam assessment centre, especially if this involves international travel. The SQE2 is assessed through select centres in the UK, so if you are based abroad, you would need to arrange your own travel.

What is included in the BARBRI SQE Prep cost?

The BARBRI SQE2 Prep costs cover the preparation for the exam only. You will receive both a hard copy and online version of a concise SQE2 Prep workbook to supplement the skills explanations.

The books and their shipping internationally, as well as all necessary materials and access is provided and included in the fee.

You are also granted access to the SQE1 Prep materials one month prior to the SQE2 Prep course start date. There is also a diagnostic test to help you determine what knowledge gaps you would need to fill before you begin the course.
