Global learning provider, BARBRI, announced the launch of its Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) SQE2 Prep course this week.

Following on from the initial success of its SQE1 Prep courses which launched in January 2021 with hundreds of students enrolled ahead of the November 2021 exam, BARBRI has launched its SQE2 Prep course. This will be offered at least twice a year leading into the exams, with the inaugural course scheduled for January 2022.

Speaking of the launch, deputy managing director for BARBRI, Robert Dudley said: “We are proud to announce our plans for SQE2 Prep and to give candidates a clear insight into how we can help them prepare for this exam. We appreciate that due to its multiple elements, there have been some initial concerns from candidates around the difficulty of this critical second portion of the SQE. However, we will be here to support candidates throughout the entire process.”

With a focus on legal skills and the practical application of the law, the SQE2 assessment is a two-part examination, consisting of oral and written assessments. With oral skills tested through client interviews and advocacy, and written skills judged through case and matter analysis, legal research, legal writing and legal drafting, the first exam is scheduled for April 2022.

Mr Dudley continued: “For those who are sitting the SQE1 exam this November, we would encourage you to delve straight into SQE2 as you’ll already be in the flow of studying. Plus, the foundations acquired through SQE1 will provide a necessary stepping stone for succeeding on the SQE2. After all, the course is designed to apply the knowledge gained in SQE1 to develop practice skills that will be assessed in the SQE2 exam. So even if candidates do not have any practice experience, our course will cover and enhance the skills that they need through interactive, innovative learning.”

Candidates will also be supported by BARBRI’s recently launched funding initiative, BARBRI Bridges. Set up to help increase diversity and accessibility within the legal profession, candidates will be able to access numerous scholarships and prep course placements through a variety of carefully selected partnerships and BARBRI’s own scholarship programmes.
