Equine and Livestock Mortality Insurance Policies, Coverage Disputes, and Options to Avoid Disputes

BarbriPdBannerMessage

About the Course

Introduction

This CLE webinar will discuss equine and livestock insurance coverages, exclusions, and endorsements as well as the recurring coverage disputes involving these policies. Even the most seasoned practitioner may be surprised to find that these insurance policies are highly unique, and courts over the years have recognized this. For those who represent clients involved in these industries, this presentation will address useful and practical risk management options to help clients avoid disputes with their insurers. Speaker Julie I. Fershtman has handled a variety of legal matters in multiple states involving equine and livestock insurance coverage and policy language and has litigated equine insurance cases in State and Federal courts.

Description

This presentation will discuss common equine and livestock insurance policies, conditions, exclusions, and endorsements such as mortality, loss of use, major medical and surgical, and limited perils. Also to be addressed are recurring insurance coverage disputes that include conditions of “immediate notice,” “sound health,” and “proper care and attention” that are frequently included within these policies. Some of the exclusions that will be covered are pre-existing conditions, intentional destruction, and certain types of medication administration. Aside from a discussion of policy language and disputes, this presentation will discuss preventing disputes with insurers.
