Description

The impact of the widespread use of EVs and federal and state initiatives to reduce carbon emissions has substantially increased the need for EV infrastructure and build-out in furthering those efforts. Counsel, developers, and investors must have a firm understanding of applicable federal and state regulations, application requirements, issuance of permits, real estate considerations, and related transactions.

Many states and the federal government aim to put a substantial number of zero-emission vehicles on the roads over the coming years. Many have issued legislation to minimize obstacles to EV charging projects by streamlining permit application requirements, establishing timelines for acting on those applications, and limiting local discretion regarding parking requirements, among other key items.

Counsel must be able to assist clients in understanding federal and state regulations, acquiring necessary permits, and structuring transactions for EV charging projects and build-out.

Listen as Jason R. Goldfarb, Esq., Partner at Falcon Rappaport & Berkman, discusses the current federal regulatory framework, state law considerations, repurposing real estate for EV access, siting and permitting challenges, essential contract provisions and deal structures, and other key items for EV infrastructure planning and build-out.
