This CLE webinar will provide renewable energy counsel and investors guidance on the legal framework and key considerations for Financing Distributed and Community Solar Projects. The panel will discuss recent federal and state initiatives and financing for advancing clean energy, key components of financing community clean energy, the process for project evaluation and selection, reporting and annual disclosures, beginning of construction rules, allocations, and best practices for energy counsel, investors, and developers.

As an experienced clean energy attorney, Mr. Crowley understands that he has both an opportunity and the responsibility to help transform our climate and our economy. Counseling clients to successfully lead the transition to clean energy is key to speeding that transformation. Mr. Crowley has spent his career working in project development and acquisition, preferred and tax equity, banking, and general corporate matters related to renewable energy projects. He represents borrowers in term loans, revolving credit, back-leverage, and mezzanine debt facilities.

Ms. Stern's expertise includes sustainable energy development, joint venture partnerships, financing, construction and operations, policy and procedure development, and contract review and management. Her background spans legal and business roles for global renewable energy developers, startups, and law firms. Over the course of her career, Ms. Stern has provided legal and strategic guidance in the development, construction, and operation of over ten gigawatts of solar and wind utility scale projects, as well as over two gigawatts of C&I and behind-the-meter solar and solar and storage projects. Ms. Stern has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting project contracts for utility-scale and C&I solar, wind, and battery storage projects. She served as in house counsel at Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and SunEdison, and previously worked at the law firms Winston & Strawn and Stoel Rives.

A variety of funding sources exist for developers interested in securing financing for community clean energy projects. However, securing the necessary capital remains challenging.
