Grey Divorce: Legal, Financial, and Practical Considerations; Asset Division, Liability Management

Mr. Abel is an experienced advocate and trial lawyer. He represents both individuals and businesses in a wide variety of matters, including complex litigation before juries, judges, and arbitrators throughout the United States and the world. Mr. Abel also serves as outside general counsel for several companies, and he helped ‘write-the-book’ on legal procedure as a co-author of the ICLE Michigan Civil Procedure treatise. He started his legal career at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City. Moving back to Michigan in 2007, Mr. Abel joined Honigman LLP, where he was a Litigation partner and co-chair of the Family Law Department. 

Ms. Abel is a Certified Financial Planner CFP® and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst CDFA® and has been helping clients navigate divorce and finance for over 25 years. She was the director and founder of the Women's Divorce Resource Center from 2012-2017, a 501(c)(3) with the mission of empowering and educating women going through the divorce process. Ms. Abel currently works with individuals and divorcing couples to assist with preparing financial reports to explore various asset splits as well as post-divorce financial planning/ money management. She has been awarded the 5 star wealth manager award nearly every year for the last decade. Ms. Abel is a fiduciary, fee based advisor.  

Mr. Gornbein specializes in all areas of family law. He is a frequent writer for many bar related publications. Mr. Gornbein is the creator and host of the award winning cable television series, Practical Law. He is the creator and host of the You Tube series, Gracefully Greying, with a newly launched website: http.//www.gracefullygreying.com. Mr. Gornbein is the author of the book, Divorce Demystified, Everything You Need to Know Before You File For A Divorce and the coauthor with forensic psychologist, Jack Haynes Phd of the book: Child Custody, A Complete Guide For Parents which is being published in July of 2020.

Mr. Haynes is a Licensed Psychologist and Forensic Psychology Consultant. He has 40 years of experience as forensic psychologist in both civil and criminal matters and has performed more than 3,000 Court Evaluations in more than 20 legal jurisdictions of Circuit Court, Family Court, Probate Court, District Court and Federal Court. Mr. Haynes has testified in Court as an expert witness in more than 175 cases and consults with attorneys regarding trial and cross-examination strategies, second opinions, review of professional work products, etc.
