Description
Course Modules and Webinar Include:Â
- Practical Tips for First-Time Managers – Part 1: Starting Strong (13 min) In this module we meet Sydney. Sydney recently took on managerial responsibility for the first time in her career and while she's excited about the new role she knows that managing people will require a new set of skills. To help Sydney—and you—get off to a strong start we'll explore five strategies for preparing to start strong as a first-time manager.
- Practical Tips for First-Time Managers – Part 2: Aligning the Team (15 min) In this module, part two of the series, we follow up with Sydney and look at how first-time managers can align their team for optimal success. We'll focus on aligning your team in four key areas with the goal of helping you take action right from the start to create something more impactful than what each individual could create on their own.
- Delivering Effective Feedback (14 min) Deliver feedback well and you can inspire others and drive strong performance that benefits both the individual and the firm. Don't deliver it well—or don't deliver it all—and it can have the opposite effect. Whether or not you serve in a supervisory role you interact with peers, assistants, and other support staff regularly assigning tasks or working together to accomplish shared objectives. You have the power to influence their motivation and performance through the feedback you provide. In this module we'll explore 10 tips for providing feedback that can sustain or lead to great performance.
- Delegating Effectively: Delegate More, Achieve More (17 min) When you are a law student the focus is on managing yourself. Your success is determined solely by your performance as an individual. Once you become a lawyer it is time to shift your mindset to more of a team approach—identifying and applying your strengths and talents but also those of others—to deliver great service effectively and efficiently for your clients. This requires a shift from "doing it all" to "deliberately delegating." In this module we'll explore a variety of practical tips so you can delegate more effectively.
- Communicating With Your Team in a Time of Uncertainty (3 min)Â Communicating with your team is always important. But in times of uncertainty and rapid change its importance is amplified. In times like these your workforce needs to hear from you. They are looking for reassurance, for clarity, for direction, and for hope. How can you rise to the challenge and provide what they need amid the uncertainty? Start with these five fundamentals.
