About the Course
Introduction
This CLE webinar will help family lawyers recognize the indicators of high-conflict divorce cases and provide effective strategies for working with our clients and opposing counsel. The panel will share insights on managing aggressive litigation tactics.
Description
High-conflict divorces involve heightened emotional, financial, and legal challenges. We often see aggressive litigation tactics; domestic violence issues; parental alienation claims; disputes over parenting time and parental decision-making, support, and the division of assets; or a combination of these factors and others.
Contentious divorce cases require skills in discovery preparation, expert witness use, strategic negotiation tactics, and responding to aggressive opposing counsel. The more contentious the case, the more important it is that counsel work with his or her client as a team to effectively manage expectations, de-escalate conflict, and maintain a professional demeanor.
Counsel must be prepared with a thorough understanding and command of the tools available to protect their client's interests while managing these often volatile disputes.
Listen as our panel discusses important considerations in these complex matters and identifies best practices and strategies for navigating the challenges they can present, from initial filing to final judgment.
