Increasingly, women earn more than their husbands and more fathers are staying at home with children, yet men rarely seek or receive spousal support. Almost a third of custodial fathers do not receive child support payments even when awarded. Despite changing economic dynamics, many men who seek child or spousal support must often overcome implicit biases and presumptions.
Counsel has a vital role to play in helping men negotiate for spousal support, from convincing a client to seek and negotiate for spousal support to combating lingering gender role stereotypes that favor mothers in custody and support determinations. Men can face thorny child support issues, such as determining child support where both parents split physical custody evenly, or where the mother has physical custody and also earns significantly more than the father. Men who were never married to their child’s mother face even more complicated issues.

Ms. Isaak is a family law attorney who focuses her practice on representing men in domestic relations issues. Her counsels clients in a wide array of family law services including contested and uncontested divorce, child custody, visitation, spousal support/alimony, child support, division of marital assets, retirement division including, IRAs and, pensions, property division, paternity, family law issues for military personnel, domestic violence and restraining orders, modifications and enforcement of judgments, power of attorney, and guardianships and conservatorships.
Mr. Kent has practiced matrimonial law since 1978. He is in Best Lawyers In America and Super Lawyers. He has been Chair of the Bridgeport Bar Association Family Law Section. He authored Fighting For Your Children: A Father's Guide To Custody, Solomon's Choice and Prenuptials/Postnuptials. He authored numerous articles on family law, including custody matters, alimony and modification provisions.
Ms. Zurek's practice is focused exclusively on family law. She works on a wide array of many family law matters, helping clients navigate the complex legal system and successfully restructure their families while serving to advocate for her client’s best interests. She has been a frequent guest on DadsDivorce Live and has contributed divorce articles to DadsDivorce.com.
