Description
For the first time in over 20 years, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) substantively revised regulations under 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records (the Part 2 regulations).
The revised regulations went into effect in March 2017. The revised regulations continue to provide enhanced privacy protections to individuals suffering from substance use disorders, while striving to better facilitate communication between providers, patients and health plans.
Listen as our authoritative panel examines the new regulations and the impact for different programs and organizations, including substance abuse treatment programs and health systems that do not operate a Part 2 program. The panel will offer best practices for complying with the new regulations and overcoming the barriers to data exchange and integration created by the new regulations.
