About the Course

Introduction

This CLE webinar will explore how forensic accountants and business valuators assist counsel in identifying, analyzing, and presenting the financial components that shape equitable distribution and asset division. Divorces involving complex financial matters often depend upon the quality and credibility of expert financial analysis.

Description

The panel will guide practitioners through the key stages of working with financial experts in a matrimonial action, from determining when expert involvement is warranted to understanding the core elements of a valuation report. Discussion includes lifestyle and income analyses, marital asset tracing, dissipation of assets, and business valuation approaches applicable to closely held companies. Attendees will also examine how these analyses inform negotiations and courtroom strategies in cases involving hidden income, unreported assets, or disputed valuations. Building on practical case examples, the program concludes with an in-depth look at valuation standards, report structure, and the significance of key assumptions such as standard and premise of value.

Listen as the expert panel provides tools to collaborate effectively with financial experts and anticipate the issues that most often determine case outcomes.
