New Scaffolded Pedagogy and Instructional Videos

The scaffolded approach to our courses incorporates a spiral instructional design that helps learners build knowledge and skills and gain confidence. Students approach their bar prep in three phrases with practice questions throughout.

Foundations Episodes Present Key Concepts in Each Subject

Leveraging the learning power of story-driven instructions, students are introduced to core legal concepts with our Foundations Episodes. These are animated explainer videos that teach foundational concepts through the power of stories with a recurring cast of characters in realistic legal scenarios.

Deep Dive Lectures and Practice Materials Build on that Foundation

After building this foundation, students take a deep dive into short lectures, presented by BARBRI’s popular and effective faculty lecturers. Infused with a scenario-based learning approach, these lectures, along with the practice sets and questions layered throughout, mirror the style, scope, and format of each exam.

Students then move to the final review focused on recapping the most important and highly tested concepts (Legacy UBE prep) or the topics starred by the NCBE for memorization (NextGen UBE prep). Additional practice questions are assigned in both courses to continue building competence and confidence.

The new Conviser Mini Review: A Score Maximizer conveys key concepts and skills in a concise, visual, and accessible way, covering everything students need to review in the final weeks of study. The CMR Max provides a capstone to scaffolded pedagogy alongside the final review lecture.

Simulated Exam on BARBRI’s Platform Drafted by BARBRI Experts

The BARBRI Simulated MBE for Legacy UBE prep provides a full day, 200 question simulated MBE exam.

The BARBRI Simulated NextGen Exam mirrors the NextGen online exam-taking experience and is aligned with NCBE-drafted content. It is completed over 9 hours and consists of three Simulated Exam Sections that each include:

  • 40 MCQs with machine grading, plus 2 Integrated Sets, and 1 Performance Task graded by BARBRI
  • A full expert-led review and analysis lecture of each section to maximize learning and improvement

Student performance on our simulated exams establishes their BARBRI Pass Predictor report and contributes to their subject-level Strength Scores**, allowing their course to adapt their abilities in real time.

Unique Features of BARBRI’s NextGen UBE Course

While we’ve intentionally aligned our NextGen UBE course with the established and effective pedagogy of our Legacy UBE course, we have designed the NextGen course to fully align to the NextGen content scope.
