You’re nearing the end of your law school journey and have secured the firm role you’ve been working toward. What an incredible milestone!
Now you’re gearing up for the final step: passing the bar exam. The good news is that as a 3L with a law firm offer, you may not have to pay for your bar review course out of pocket. Your firm is invested in your success. They’re counting on you to become a licensed, valuable associate. That’s why many firms (especially larger ones) go the extra mile by covering the cost of bar prep courses.
Law firm‑funded bar prep with BARBRI Firm Pay courses is a way to make your last stretch far more manageable. BARBRI Firm Pay enables you to have your employer billed for a BARBRI Bar Review course, making it easier to focus on graduating, preparing for the bar exam, and starting your legal career.
What Is BARBRI Firm Pay?
BARBRI Firm Pay is a payment option that allows you to have your law firm billed directly for BARBRI Bar Review. Instead of paying the full course cost yourself, BARBRI works with participating law firms to handle invoicing and payment directly.
For many students heading into Big Law or other firms that offer bar prep benefits, Firm Pay can be one of the easiest ways to secure bar review without a significant upfront expense.
Am I Eligible for Firm Pay?
You may be eligible if you have accepted an offer from a law firm that pays for bar review courses. BARBRI has direct billing relationships with more than 600 law firms across the United States.
Not sure whether your firm participates? BARBRI offers a firm verification process. If your firm is not already listed, BARBRI can contact the firm to confirm eligibility and obtain approval for direct billing.

Note: If you’re receiving a stipend from your firm, or you do not see your firm listed, we can still help. Please contact your BARBRI Director of Legal Education (DLE) for assistance.
Quick Eligibility Checklist
You may qualify if:
- You have accepted a law firm offer.
- Your law firm pays for bar review or reimburses bar prep costs.
- Your firm is part of BARBRI's direct billing network—or is willing to approve billing.
If you're uncertain, check with your recruiting contact, hiring partner, or professional development team. Your BARBRI Director of Legal Education (DLE) may also be able to help.
What Do I Need to Do?
One of the biggest advantages of Firm Pay is how simple the process is.
Step 1: Enroll in BARBRI
Choose the BARBRI Bar Review course that best fits your needs and jurisdiction. Whether you'll be taking the UBE, NextGen UBE, or a jurisdiction-specific exam, BARBRI offers course options designed to prepare you for success. Our Firm Pass and Firm Pass Plus products include everything in the BARBRI Bar Review arsenal to give you the best chance of passing the bar exam.
Step 2: Select Your Law Firm
During enrollment, choose the option to bill your employer and identify your law firm. If BARBRI already has a direct billing relationship with your firm, the process moves forward quickly.
Step 3: Let BARBRI Handle the Billing
Once you've enrolled and selected your firm, BARBRI manages the invoicing process directly with the employer. You don't have to coordinate payments, submit invoices, or track billing paperwork yourself.
Step 4: Start Preparing for the Bar Exam
After enrollment, you can begin taking advantage of BARBRI resources and start your bar prep journey confidently, knowing the payment process is already underway.
How Does Payment Work?
The payment process is designed to minimize hassle for you. If your law firm has a direct billing relationship with BARBRI, we invoice them directly, and the firm pays BARBRI according to its agreement. You focus on bar preparation.
You are typically required to pay a refundable deposit when your hard-copy course materials are shipped. That deposit is returned when the materials are returned at the end of the course. Some firms may not cover shipping or expedited shipping costs, so it's worth reviewing your firm's specific policy.
What If My Firm Offers Reimbursement Instead?
Some employers provide a bar preparation stipend or reimbursement benefit instead of paying BARBRI directly. In those cases, you may enroll BARBRI Premium or Elite and pay by credit card, then submit your invoice to your firm for reimbursement according to its policy.
If you're unsure whether your employer uses direct billing or reimbursement, ask your recruiting coordinator or hiring contact before enrolling.
Why Enroll in Bar Review Early
Many 3Ls wait until graduation to think seriously about bar prep. However, enrolling early can provide peace of mind and help you take advantage of BARBRI resources before graduation.
Early enrollment allows you to:
- Check bar prep off your to-do list
- Confirm employer billing arrangements
- Access available BARBRI resources in advance
- Focus on finishing law school strong
