When you complete your SQE Prep studies with us, you don’t just gain a qualification – you become part of BARBRI’s growing group of alumni and gain lifelong learning and networking support from us and our other alumni.
Lifelong learning
Professional development courses:
As your career develops, we’ll continue to support your learning. We have offered professional development courses through Altior for 45 years, and we’re rolling out a variety of new online professional development courses, from negotiation and management skills to business, finance and legal tech courses. We’ll always let you know first, and there will be price incentives and offers from time to time!
If your law firm or organisation is interested in bespoke training or group bookings, we can help too. Please reach out to our Business Development team, who will be happy to discuss any team training needs you have.
Supporting current students:
Our new mentor scheme enables you to volunteer one hour per month to mentor an SQE student with similar career interests to help them reach their career goals.
We also offer the opportunity for you to share your study and exam experience and advice with current students through the exam workshops we host with our learning coaches.
Networking and engagement
LinkedIn group for networking: SQE Future Lawyers:
Join us on SQE Future Lawyers, our new LinkedIn community for BARBRI SQE alumni. This is where we're sharing news about legal careers, webinars, interesting partnerships, opportunities and more. This is your community where you can ask questions, share your experience, and be inspired by others’ career stories.
Events:
We’re organising several events for our alumni to stay connected. Continue to join us for our Industry Insights sessions each month, designed to keep you a step-ahead with your industry knowledge and commercial awareness. In 2024, these events are online but we’ll have regional events coming to you in 2025!
Advisory Board:
Every year, we appoint an alumnus to our Advisory Board to be the student voice and ensure we keep our students at the centre of everything we do. We’ll call for applications during the summer of each year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to raise your profile, meet key players in the industry and, of course, represent our student body.
Career development
CareerHUB services:
Our online careers platform is growing and getting better every year. You’ll continue to have access for one year after your SQE studies. That means you can continue to use our one-to-one career action planning sessions, CV and application tools, job search along with all the other features.
We also offer pathways such as certification in legal research through Lexis+, as well as legal tech courses.

Raise your profile:
We’ll invite our SQE2 alumni to share your student success stories with us so we can profile you on our website and social media.
We may also invite you to speak on panels and webinars, helping you to further elevate your professional profile.
Career roundtables and workshops:
We’re hosting roundtables with alumni for alumni to talk about your career progression, challenges and successes to help inspire others.
We’re also organising workshops with legal recruiters and employers and we’re working hard behind the scenes to offer salaried QWE opportunities.
