Insurance for Livestock and Horses: Equine Policies, Livestock Mortality Coverage, Government Indemnity Programs

BarbriPdBannerMessage

About the Course

Introduction

This CLE webinar will discuss insurance coverage and government indemnity programs for commercial and industrial livestock, as well as equine insurance. The panel will address the most common types of coverage disputes and the increasing role of technology in equine insurance claims.

Description

Many unforeseeable risks related to livestock itself as well as unanticipated changes and fluctuations in market conditions can have a significant effect on agribusinesses. Specialized insurance and government indemnity programs exist to help manage these unique risks, but available coverage and government programs often do not cover all losses, making disputes common.

Equine insurance is a separate insurance specialty that is undergoing a huge transformation through, among other things, technology. Horses may now be equipped with "smart" halters and biometric monitors to track activity, stress, and many other health indicators. These devices, however, are more in the nature of alerts than diagnostic tools. Expert testimony and scrutiny may be needed, increasing the complexity of equine claims.

Listen as our esteemed panel offers guidance to counsel navigating this complex and quickly evolving area of insurance coverage law.
