Curricular Support
Build NextGen Skills Throughout Law School
From foundational legal analysis through third-year bar prep, BARBRI curricular support helps schools build a connected pathway for skill developing and applying the skills emphasized in legal practice and on the NextGen Bar Exam. BARBRI provides curriculum training, implementation resources, and ongoing support to help faculty confidently bring these programs into the classroom.
Pre-1L | Lawyering Fundamentals
Help students build the foundational skills needed for law school and beyond.
This pre-1L program introduces students to the expectations of legal education while developing critical skills such as case briefing, how to effectively read cases, legal problem solving and legal analysis, basic legal writing, and more. By helping students begin to "think like a lawyer" and develop these essential competencies before classes begin, the program creates a stronger foundation for the applied, skills-focused work emphasized on the NextGen Bar Exam and in legal practice.
This course can be delivered asynchronously as an online summer program over three weeks, or it may be taught by your faculty as an intensive during the orientation period.
1L | Client-Centered Legal Analysis
Help students develop and demonstrate the legal analysis skills needed for legal practice and the NextGen bar exam.
This comprehensive curricular program introduces students to law school while helping them develop critical skills. Each chapter includes instruction in foundational legal analysis skills, including case reading, briefing, and legal reasoning, as well as in-class exercises that help students fully develop and express each skill.
The corresponding teaching materials and textbook, Client-Centered Legal Analysis (West Academic 2025), are authored by Joni Wiredu and Steven Foster. Instructors receive sample course syllabi, course objectives, individual objectives, and recommendations for in-class activities.
2L | Bridge to Practice
Bridge the gap between doctrinal learning and practice-ready skills.
Help students connect doctrinal learning, professional identity development, and practical lawyering skills before their final year. Built around Sarah Berman’s 2L Success: Lawyering Skills Training & Professional Identity Formation for Upper Division Law Students (West Academic 2025), this customizable curriculum helps students transition from academic study to practical legal work while strengthening skills that align with the NextGen Bar Exam.
Instructors are invited to participate in curriculum training and receive ongoing support throughout the semester.
3L | NextGen Topics
Jumpstart NextGen bar preparation.
