About LawWithoutWalls

LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) is a unique, experiential legal initiative teaming practicing and aspiring legal and business professionals on a journey of innovation to solve a problem at the intersection of law, business and technology.

In 2024, LawWithoutWalls will be offering a 3-day, in-person Sprint on the 15—17 March in Madrid, Spain at the IE University Tower in the heart of Madrid’s financial district. The LWOW Sprint is a 3-day legal hackathon “weekender” where participants learn and apply design thinking principles to co-create the foundations of viable solutions to solve an urgent business-of-law problem.

BARBRI is pleased to announce that we will be participating in the upcoming Sprint. We will be sponsoring one student to attend and covering all costs associated to participation, travel and accommodation for the event.

This opportunity is open to anyone who is a current or past BARBRI SQE Prep or Extended U.S. Bar Prep student. Find out details of how to apply for the selection process for the competition below.

What is a Sprint?

Participants learn and apply design thinking principles to CO-CREATE PROJECTS OF WORTH; the foundations of viable solutions to solve an URGENT BUSINESS-OF-LAW PROBLEM. In the process, they enhance skills and develop new mindsets and transform relationships for future-forward work together.

In the 7 weeks leading up to Sprint, students will participate in a series of virtual interactive learning modules (both async and sync) to ensure students are prepared for the Sprint. These modules will run 24 January 2024 —6 March 2024.

At Sprint 2024, students will collaborate and work alongside legal and business professionals from some of the most innovative places to work in the legal marketplace including:  Baker McKenzie, Dentons, DLA Piper, EY Law, HSBC, iManage, KPMG, Lloyds Banking Group, Pinsent Masons, Simmons & Simmons, White & Case, and more. This is a great way to build and strengthen your professional network, get recommendations, and be a part of a community passionate about progress and innovation in law.

Why get involved in LawWithoutWalls?

LawWithoutWalls is an experiential learning initiative in collaborative problem solving. Participants learn new design thinking principles and skills that change the way they engage professionally and personally - and gain a network of change agents in the legal community.

LawWithoutWalls team students from law and business schools around the world with law and business professionals on a 3-day "Sprint" hackathon - a journey to solve a real problem assigned to each team.

LawWithoutWalls' teams identify a problem related to law, business, and technology and co-create a practical solution to the challenge. Teams are guided on the journey by some of the industry's best thought leaders and innovators.
