Can I qualify if I don’t have a law degree?

The short answer is yes! While it is easy to compare yourself to other law students or graduates with some legal knowledge, the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) is a new assessment format and encompasses more subjects than the standard syllabus of a law degree. BARBRI has designed SQE Prep courses specifically for this new style of assessment drawing on years of experience in preparing students for both multiple-choice and practical assessments.

We know how difficult it is for non-lawyers and lawyers alike when they take the first step into becoming a solicitor so let us guide you through! Our courses have helped a variety of students successfully study for and pass legal exams, and our innovative Personal Study Plan (PSP) is tailored to meet the needs of everyone, regardless of their previous legal knowledge.

If you feel that you would benefit from learning some of the fundamentals of English and Welsh law, we also offer SQE Foundations, a short course which you can take just before your SQE Prep course.

I am extremely impressed with the BARBRI SQE Prep course. The mock questions were very similar to those in the exam and the content BARBRI included on the course was extremely targeted making revision effortlessly efficient.

Lauren Hancock

"I studied for SQE1 with BARBRI and the Personal Study Plan(PSP) they have put in place is just exceptional. Half the burden of studying law is to plan for it, and with Barbri this is done for you, so all you need to do is commit, and stick to the plan."
